There is not a road that circles the entire island like on Moorea. To get to our resort, you had to take a ferry from the main city of Fare. The cloud cover was very low and made it especially difficult to expose correctly. There was also much more ambient light from the fireworks scattering off of the clouds. There were localized incidents prior to, but the San Diego fire sparked (pardon the pun) a series of fires throughout Southern Califonia. The Moorpark and Simi fires threatened my co-worker's homes, hopping over 6 lane freeways with the aid of the high winds.
